 The National Informatics Centre (NIC) has officially released the Scientist-B Recruitment 2026 Notification under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. This is a golden opportunity for engineering and IT graduates who want to work in government tech roles.

Total Vacancies

A total of 243 posts are available in different disciplines:

  • Computer Science & IT – 168 posts
  • Electronics & Communication – 25 posts
  • Data Science & AI – 50 posts

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have any of the following:

  • B.E / B.Tech
  • M.Sc / MCA
  • M.Tech / ME
  • Or equivalent qualification in relevant fields

Fields include:

  • Computer Science
  • IT
  • Electronics
  • AI & Data Science

GATE Requirement

valid GATE score (2024 / 2025 / 2026) is mandatory in:

  • CS – Computer Science
  • EC – Electronics
  • DA – Data Science & AI

Age Limit

  • Maximum Age: 30 years (as on 31 March 2026)
  • Age relaxation applicable for:
    • SC/ST – 5 years
    • OBC – 3 years
    • PwBD – up to 10 years

Salary (Pay Scale)

Selected candidates will get:

  • Level 10 Pay Scale (7th CPC)
  • 💸 Salary: ₹56,100 to ₹1,77,500 per month

Plus allowances like DA, HRA, TA, etc.


Selection Process

The selection process is based on:

1- Shortlisting

  • Based on GATE Score

2- Interview

  • Technical Knowledge
  • Communication Skills
  • Academic Performance

3- Final Merit Calculation

  • 60% weightage – GATE Score
  • 40% weightage – Interview
